Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his son Arjun showed off their inked finger after casting vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on Monday.
Tendulkar, who was recognised as the 'national icon' of the Election Commission (EC) to raise voter awareness in the electoral process, was accompanied by his son Arjun Tendulkar after Mumbai Indians' tumultuous run in the IPL 2024 which saw them finish with a wooden spoon.
"Arjun and I inked our commitment to the nation. Have you made your 'mark'? @ECISVEEP #GeneralElections2024," Sachin Tendulkar captioned his picture on X.
"I would like to say that problems happen because, one, you act without thinking, and two, you just keep thinking but do not act. I would urge people to cast their vote. It is extremely important for our nation's future," he told media after casting vote.
However, Tendulkar's wife Anjali, and daughter Sara could not make it to Mumbai as the latter had a post-graduation convocation ceremony.
In Mumbai, elections in 6 Lok Sabha seats are underway for Phase 5. These seats include Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South and Mumbai South Central.
The other constituencies of Maharashtra which are a part o the election process in the fifth phase include, Dindori, Dhule, Nashik, Kalyan, Palghar, Bhiwandi and Thane. Maharashtra has the second largest election seats after Uttar Pradesh.
