Sachin Tendulkar recently said he wants the Indian team to win the T20 World Cup 2022. The former cricketer dubbed India one of the favourites to win the tournament and named Pakistan a potential semi-final candidate.

Tendulkar names his four semi-finalists

Sachin Tendulkar believes teams like India, Pakistan, England and Australia might occupy the four semi-finalist slots in the T20 World Cup 2022. The legendary batter also picked New Zealand and South Africa as teams to watch out for at the showpiece event.

While speaking on Sportstar, the batting icon was asked to give his take on India’s chances. He said:

“Champions. I would want India to be the champion but my top four would be India, Pakistan, Australia and England. New Zealand is a dark horse, so is South Africa because they know the conditions and in South Africa, you get to encounter these conditions in September-October.”

Tendulkar’s favouritism aside, Team India has been jolted by a series of players' injuries. Leading paceman Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the squad due to a back injury just a few weeks before the team's training sessions.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and pacer Deepak Chahar are also excluded from the squad as they continue to nurse their injuries.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will commence their T20 World Cup campaign on October 23 with a Group B game against Pakistan.
