SA20 2024 To Launch On January 10, Final Set For February 10

The second season of SA 20 will commence on January 10 next year at the St George’s Park in Gqeberha. The opening match of the tournament will see defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape stepping up to face last season’s semi-finalists Joburg Super Kings.

The six-team event will conclude with the final on February 10.

SA20 2024 fixtures and scheduled announced by CSA

SA20 commenced earlier this year with its inaugural season. The tournament turned out to be a huge financial success for Cricket South Africa, with crowd turning up in huge numbers throughout the competition.

South Africa’s premier T20 league is now set to make its return with the second season, set to be played between January 10 and February 10 next year. This time around, the event will feature 34 matches, in comparison to 33 from the last season, owing to a slight change in the formatting schedule.

Much like the IPL, SA20 2024 will feature two qualifier matches, an eliminator and a final following the conclusion of the league stage. In the inaugural season, Cricket South Africa (CSA) had used the age-old knockout system of two semi-finals and a final.

Defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will kick-off the brand-new season at their home ground by facing Joburg Super Kings. Each of the six participating teams will face each other twice, home and away, in a round-robin format, before action shifts to the playoffs.

Here is a look at the entire schedule for the SA20 2024 season:

SA20 2024 will likely clash with South Africa’s international home season. As per the Future Tours Program (FTP) issued by the ICC, the Proteas are slated to tour New Zealand for a two-match Test series in early February, with matches scheduled to be part of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

CSA will likely have discussions with New Zealand in the coming weeks about postponing the series, however, nothing has been finalised yet. If CSA pulls out of the tour, South Africa will end up conceding crucial championship points to the Black Caps.
