The hype for India’s cricketing rivalry resumption with Pakistan this year seems to be at its full swing. Months ahead of their imminent World Cup clash in October, several reports indicated that thousands of potential spectators are booking hospital beds from surrounding areas of the stadium, because prices of all nearby hotels have been skyrocketed owing to advanced bookings.

Notably, the two sides will also face each other at least twice in the preceding Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka, set to be played in September, a full month ahead of the World Cup in India.

The official broadcasters of the continental event seem to be cashing in on the hype, as they recently released an ambitious promo on their broadcasting and social media networks.

Star Sports comes up with smashing IND v PAK promo

Star Sports, official broadcasters of the 2023 ODI Asia Cup, have released a minute-long promo focusing on India’s clash with Pakistan.

The promo, centered around a cricket-fanatic family, starts with a scene at the hospital where a doctor is examining a swollen hand of a grandmother of an attending family, and says a full recovery of the hand will require at least another six months.

The grandmother, puzzled, looks up at the calendar and commences recovery process of her hand through constant and calculated routine of exercises. She ended up attaining full recovery well ahead of time, and in a staggering plot twist, it was revealed that the grandmother was regaining her strength in time to hoist the Indian tri-colour in full glory to support her nation against Pakistan.

The promo was well received by fans, with many praising the themes of patriotism within the video. The footage was also released on India’s 77th Independence Day, nearly three weeks prior to the blockbuster game.

In the meantime, Asia Cup 2023 will commence with co-hosts Pakistan taking on Nepal in Multan on August 30. India, led by Rohit Sharma, will have their campaign kicked-off with a match against arch-rivals Pakistan in Kandy three days into the competition.

The opening round will be followed by a Super Four stage, set to be played between September 6 and September 15 across Lahore and Colombo. The latter of the two venues will also host the title clash on September 17.
