'He is Going To Get British Passport': R Ashwin On Pujara's Prolific Run In England

Champion Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has stated that Cheteshwar Pujara will soon get a British passport given the truckload of runs the former Indian Test No.3 has been scoring in the country for Sussex.

Pujara has been on a roll ever since he linked up with Sussex County Cricket Club at the beginning of the last summer.

The champion Indian Test batsman piled on a heap of runs in the County Championship, which eventually earned him a recall to the national team.

Unfortunately, he could not make the most of it and was eventually dropped from the set-up following underwhelming numbers in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the World Test Championship final.

However, nothing has changed for Pujara in the county circuit as he continued to rack up hundreds for fun in both formats of the game.

Pujara is currently featuring in the Metro Bank One-day Cup, where he has already scored a couple of hundreds, and is currently enjoying the 2nd spot in the leading run-scorers list.

In 5 matches, the Saurashtra cricketer has amassed 329 runs at an average of 109.67.

Reacting to Pujara's performances in the One-day Cup, Ashwin said this on his Youtube channel:

"And I guess Pujara is going to get a British passport. He has been playing in England that much and making lots of runs there,"

Meanwhile, Pujara will likely be available for the final rounds of the County Championship, where he will look to swell up his runs tally, which currently stands at 545 (runs in 6 matches @ 68.12)
