Team India has once again made the country proud by winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai, defeating New Zealand in the final. This victory marks India's second ICC title in a row, following their win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
To celebrate this incredible achievement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash prize of Rs 58 crore for the players, coaching staff, and selection committee.
It is important to mention that each player will get Rs 3 crore each, head coach Rs 3 crore, supporting staff Rs 50 lakh.
India’s Dominant Run in the Tournament
India had a fantastic journey in the Champions Trophy, winning every match they played. Their campaign started with a solid six-wicket win against Bangladesh, followed by another six-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. They continued their dominance with a 44-run win over New Zealand in the group stage. In the semifinal, they defeated Australia by four wickets, setting up a thrilling final against New Zealand, which they won to lift the trophy.
BCCI President Roger Binny expressed his pride in the team’s back-to-back ICC victories. He said,
“Winning two ICC titles in a row is a remarkable achievement, and this reward acknowledges the team’s dedication and excellence. This is our second ICC trophy in 2025, following the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup win, which shows the strength of Indian cricket.”
BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia also praised the team’s efforts. He stated,
“This cash reward is well deserved. The team’s dominance in world cricket is a result of years of hard work and planning. India’s top ranking in white-ball cricket is justified by this victory, and we are confident the team will continue to shine on the global stage.”
Rohit Sharma's Stellar Captaincy Record
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India has been nearly unstoppable in ICC tournaments. They have won 23 of their last 24 completed matches in men’s limited-overs ICC events. Their only loss came in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, which ended a 10-match winning streak in that tournament. Since then, India has remained unbeaten in the 2024 T20 World Cup and now in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
