Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson has been the backbone of his team, contributing significantly with the bat and showcasing strong leadership skills. However, on May 7th, RR suffered a defeat against the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 20 runs.

The 29-year-old wicket-keeper batter displayed exceptional batting prowess, scoring 86 runs off just 46 balls, marking his highest score in IPL 2024 and securing his fifth fifty in eleven outings before being controversially dismissed.

Upon leading the team for the toss, Samson surpassed former Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Warne, etching his name into the franchise's history books.

Samson's captaincy in the 56th match made him the new record holder for the most matches captained for the Royals in IPL history, surpassing Warne's previous record of 55 matches.

Warne, who led Rajasthan Royals to victory in the inaugural IPL edition in 2008, captained the team in all appearances during his tenure in IPL (2008-2011). Samson took over as the full-time designated captain from the 2022 edition onwards.

Rajasthan Royals will now face the defending champions Chennai Super Kings on 12th May at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
