Prime Minister Narendra Modi met rising cricket star Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family at the Patna Airport during the inauguration of the new terminal building on May 30, 2025. Prime Minister Modi offered his compliments to Vaibhav for his stellar performances in the IPL 2025 season.
Suryavanshi, purchased by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 1.1 crore, made everyone see him in a different light with his gutsy batting.
He scored 252 runs in just 7 innings this season, including a sensational 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans. He also played a mature innings against Chennai Super Kings, proving he has both power and patience.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited the city of Patna to inaugurate a new airport terminal. Upon arrival, he was greeted by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his parents.
In a social media post, Modi praised the teenager’s talent and wished him luck for future endeavours.

The 14-year-old cricketer’s next big challenge will be on India's U19 tour of England in June-July 2025. The tour features a 50-over warm-up game, a five-match ODI series, and two multi-day fixtures.
This will be Vaibhav’s first time playing in England, and it will help him prepare for the 2026 U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
When Modi Praised Suryavanshi During Khelo India Speech
At the time of the inauguration of Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar, PM Narendra Modi praised 14-year-old Samastipur's Vaibhav Suryavanshi with great admiration. Naming him the "son of Bihar," the PM praised his 35-ball century in the IPL 2025 and told him, "Jo jitna khelega, woh utna khilega," urging young sportsmen to compete and excel through regular participation.
