Former RCB superstar AB de Villiers has thrown his support behind Virat Kohli, predicting the "ultimate team man" will deliver a match-winning performance in the IPL 2025 final.
De Villiers' confidence comes after RCB stormed into the championship match with a dominant eight-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1, comfortably chasing 102 despite Virat Kohli's rare low score of 12.
De Villiers on Kohli's Focus & Team Ethic
De Villiers highlighted Kohli's intense focus and unwavering team spirit, even when not scoring, as key indicators of his readiness for the final challenge on June 3rd in Ahmedabad.
"The first time I saw him on the screen for PBKS vs RCB game, was when he got out of the bus, and I just saw a lot of focus in that guy. That's the typical kind of body language we're so used to seeing," De Villiers told JioHotstar.
"And what I love most about this is -- he didn't score runs today, but we still saw him right till the end, celebrating with the batters. The ultimate team man, and he looks very, very focused. Obviously, the job's not done yet, but I'm very excited to watch him play. I have no doubt in my mind he's going to play a big hand in the final," the South African added.
Notably, Kohli has been instrumental in RCB's wins since more than 1/4th of the team's aggregate comes from Kohli's bat. In his 14 matches, Kohli amassed 614 runs at an average of 55.82 and looks to tussle with the orange cap holder Sai Sudharsan.
As RCB awaits his final opponent on June 3, MI and GT will be locking horns for a high-stakes clash at Mullanpur for the Eliminator on May 30.
