Similar to day 3, India started day 4 on a poor note as they lost skipper Rohit Sharma early on. The hitman delighted the fans with a couple of boundaries but then fell prey to Pat Cummins. 

On the 3rd ball of the 24th over, Sharma again edged a seam-up delivery by Cummins, and Alex Carey made no mistake behind the stumps. The poor knock has again put Sharma under the scanner as he is going through a rough patch with the bat, and the fans are questioning his place in the Indian team. 

Rohit Leaves Gloves Out In The Open

In the ongoing series, Rohit has played three innings and amassed just 19 runs, averaging 6.33. He also had a horror show against New Zealand, where he amassed 91 runs in six innings and averaged 15.17. 

Amid the criticism, Rohit's latest act after getting out in the 3rd Test has sparked retirement speculations. Notably, as the hitman was walking back towards the dugout, he kept his gloves near the dugout, which left fans concerned. 



Rohit's Form A Concern For India

Rohit is someone who usually doesn't leave his gloves hanging in the open, which is why the fans are concerned and speculating about his retirement.  India's chances to qualify for the WTC finals would be reduced by a hefty margin if they suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Gabba Test. The WTC runners-up would then have to rely on other teams to do the job for them. 

Talking about Rohit, he announced retirement from T20I cricket after lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup title, but it is to be seen when he will call a day in red-ball cricket. Jasprit Bumrah is the potential contender to replace Rohit as he also led the side in the first Test and registered a victory.
