India and Australia are currently in the middle of an intense five-match Test series Down Under. India won the first Test, but the Aussies made a strong comeback in the second game and the series is now levelled at 1-1.

The two days of the third Test at the Gabba are done and dusted and things are looking quite even at the moment with both teams exchanging blows. Australia scored 405-7 at the end of Day 2 after only 13.2 overs were bowled on Day 1. It is an important series for both the teams in terms of qualification for WTC Final and India especially are in a very tricky position.

South Africa are at the top of the table and look favourites to make it to the WTC final with two home Test matches against Pakistan coming up. Australia are second with 60. 71 percentage points while India are placed third and currently their percentage points are 57.29.

How Can India Qualify For WTC 2025 Final?

If India win the series by 4-1 or 3-1 margin, they will qualify without anyone's help. However, if India lose the Gabba Test and win the rest of the two games, they will need one of the Tests between Australia and Sri Lanka to end in a draw. In that case, India will end with a percentage points of 58.8 percent while Australia will finish below 57 percent.

Australia are scheduled to play two Tests against Sri Lanka at the home of Lankan Lions and India would need the home team to win the series against Australia if the BGT ends at a scoreline of 2-2.

However, if Australia win the series by a 3-2 margin, the situation would get even tougher for India as they would need South Africa to lose both their matches against Pakistan and atleast one Test between Sri Lanka and Australia should end in a draw.

If Australia win the series by a 4-1 or 3-1 margin, it will end India's chances of qualifying for the WTC final, and South Africa will take on Aussies in the summit clash of the purest format.
