As per emerging reports, veteran Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will likely be rested for India's upcoming Sri Lanka tour where the Men in Blue will face the home team in three ODIs and T20Is. 

According to Express Sports, these three senior players will be given a bit more time to relax and gear up for the packed home season.

A BCCI official revealed that the aforementioned cricketers wouldn't likely be a part of the Indian team for the Lankan assignment. 

However, he clarified that they would join the team for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh in September. 

“Senior players can take some rest and get ready for the full cricket season ahead. Rohit, Virat and Bumrah have been offered rest and will join the team for the Test matches against Bangladesh in September,” the official told Express Sports. 

Notably, Kohli, Rohit and Bumrah were pivotal in India's recent T20 World Cup triumph in the Caribbean. Despite announcing their retirement from T20Is, Kohli and Rohit will continue to represent India in the longer formats. 

Meanwhile, the BCCI is expected to adopt a cautious approach in managing Bumrah's workload, considering the immense value he brings to the table. 

Currently, India are in Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series against the host nation. In the senior players' absence, young batter Shubman Gill is leading the team in the series.
