In response, legendary opener and captain Rohit Sharma hammered down his 32nd ODI ton, and shared a 136-run opening partnership with half-centurion Shubman Gill (60 off 52 balls) to set up India’s easy win. Sharma made 119 from just 90 balls, before valiant 40s from Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel took India to an unassailable 2-0 series lead in the three-match series.

Rohit Sharma recorded 119 runs from just 90 balls to help India pull off a 305-run target against England in Cuttack to seal their three-match series with a game to spare. Sharma also scaled a couple of huge batting records through the course of his match-winning knock, going past Chris Gayle and former teammate Sachin Tendulkar in the process.
The legendary Indian opener launched seven sixes in the evening to extend his ODI sixes tally to 338 maximums, overtaking Chris Gayle’s 331 to become the second highest six-hitter in the format. Moreover, Rohit Sharma also became India’s second highest run-maker across all formats as an opener, going past Tendulkar’s tally of 15,335 runs.
Haris Rauf Likely To Be Rested From Pakistan Tri-Series
Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf will likely be rested by the PCB for the remainder of his team’s home tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand. The speedster injured himself during the series-opener against New Zealand, prompting him to walk off the field after bowling just 6.2 overs.
As per reports, Haris Rauf is feeling better at the moment, but the PCB is not willing to take a risk over his recovery and will likely be resting him for Pakistan’s next match against South Africa later this week. It is worth noting that Rauf is also slated to represent the national side in next week’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy at home.
Jacob Bethell Suffers Hamstring Injury Before Champions Trophy
England’s rising star Jacob Bethell has suffered a hamstring injury and was ruled out of his team’s second ODI match against India in Cuttack. The ECB has already called up Tom Banton for the upcoming third ODI as Bethell’s replacement.
Aged just 21, Bethell recently punched out a fiery 51 against India in Nagpur, and the youngster is slated to travel to Pakistan later this month for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. As of now, it remains to be seen if the young batting all-rounder will attain full recovery before the impending eight-team event.

Dubai Capitals overcame Desert Vipers in a thrilling finale to lift the ILT20 2025 trophy in Dubai. Chasing 190 runs for a win, Rovman Powell top-scored with 63 runs from 38 balls, before Sikandar Raza blasted 34* from just 12 balls to steer Capitals past the finishing line with four wickets and four balls to spare.
