Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be facilitated with a stand at the Wankhede Stadium set to be named after him, as confirmed by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) earlier this year. As per reports, the stand naming ceremony will be organized amidst the ongoing IPL 2025 season itself.
Sharma is currently in splendid touch with the bat for the Mumbai Indians franchise, as they begin to gain momentum as a unit late in the tournament.
Rohit Sharma Stand naming ceremony date revealed
As per reports, the ‘Rohit Sharma Stand’ naming ceremony will take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday, May 13. Notably, Mumbai Indians players will be in Mumbai at the time to train for their impending IPL 2025 fixture against the Delhi Capitals.
Last month, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) approved a proposal to name one of the stands at the Wankhede Stadium after national skipper Rohit Sharma.
The legendary Indian batter is currently plying his trade for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. After struggling in the initial few games of the tournament, the 38-year-old has soared back with half-centuries against CSK, SRH and Rajasthan Royals; all in match-winning causes for the Mumbai Indians.
So far, Sharma has aggregated 293 runs in 10 innings of IPL 2025 at an average of 32.55 and at a strike rate of 155.02. He along with the rest of his Mumbai Indians colleagues will now face Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, May 6 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The action will commence from 7:30 PM IST onwards.
