The India A team will likely take flight for England on May 25 to play four-day matches against England Lions. However, players committed to their respective franchises during the playoffs of the IPL 2025 season at the time will travel together at a latter date.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already initiated travel arrangements for the squad. Notably, India A’s four-day fixtures against England Lions serve a precursor to Team India’s five-match Test series against the hosts from June onwards.
India A to tour England, BCCI makes plans
The India A team is set to face England Lions in a series of three four-day matches. The first match will commence from May 30 onwards in Canterbury. The BCCI is already making sure to put logistics in order for a pool of players to be determined by the Ajit Agarkar-led men’s selection committee.
Since England will also host the senior men’s Indian team for a five-match Test series in mid-June, there is a bright possibility of several senior players might also compete in India A’s second four-day match against England Lions.
As per reports, senior Indian players want to have a go in at least one of the three four-day fixtures in a bid to prepare themselves for the all-important England Test series.
Several Test regulars like Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj among others are currently plying their trades for their respective franchises in the ongoing IPL 2025 season.
Nonetheless, India’s first Test against England will be played between June 20 and June 24 in Headingley, Leeds. The series will also launch India’s 2025-27 WTC campaign.
