Team India captain Rohit Sharma handed pacer Mohammed Siraj his T20 World Cup winner’s ring in an emotional ceremony before Mumbai Indians’ IPL clash against Gujarat Titans at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Mohammed Siraj, who missed the BCCI’s official felicitation during the Naman Awards earlier this year, was personally honoured by Sharma for his pivotal role in India’s historic T20 World Cup 2023 triumph.
Rohit Presents Siraj His T20 World Cup Ring
The customized ring, engraved with players’ names, jersey numbers, and an Ashok Chakra emblem, commemorates India’s thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in Barbados, ending an 11-year ICC trophy drought.
Handing Siraj the ring, Rohit Sharma said, “This is for Mohammad Siraj. We missed you at the function. You played a vital role in our T20 campaign. So I am proudly presenting him a very very special ring… Unfortunately Siraj wasn’t there, so I would like to present this to Mr. Siraj.”

The board hailed the team on X earlier posting, “Diamonds may be forever, but this win certainly is immortalised in a billion hearts. These memories will 'Ring' loud and live with us forever.”
BCCI's Gesture for the World Cup Heroes
The gesture highlighted Siraj’s contributions during India’s unbeaten campaign, which saw dramatic retirements of stalwarts like Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja from T20Is post-tournament. The BCCI immortalized the triumph with these rings, symbolizing a watershed moment for Indian cricket.
The final, where India defended 177 amid South Africa’s tense chase of 30 runs off 30 balls, remains etched in fans’ memories, amplified by Sharma’s heartfelt acknowledgement of Siraj’s absence at the initial ceremony.
Meanwhile, India’s victory marked their first ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy, with Sharma, Kohli, and Jadeja bowing out of T20Is shortly after. The win, fueled by clutch performances under pressure, solidified the team’s legacy in cricket’s shortest format.
