Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma met Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finisher Rinku Singh ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 fixture on Friday.

It was the first time the Team India captain met the disheartened-looking T20 finisher after his snub from the 15-member squad of the T20 World Cup 2024. His franchise, KKR, documented the moment and shared words of encouragement for the finisher on their social media accounts.

"Always keep smiling 💜💙," KKR captioned the picture.

Notably, Rinku, who was touted as a Team India finisher for the T20 World Cup 2024 until the Afghanistan home series earlier this year, only found a play as a reserve player for the marquee event.

Since making his debut in the shortest format in 2003, Rinku has hardly put a foot wrong for his national team. He has featured in 15 T20Is, accumulating 356 runs, at a staggering average of 89 and a strike rate over 176.

However, in the ongoing season of the IPL, he has not performed to the best of his ability as he averages 20.50 after nine matches with a strike rate of 150.
