Rohit Sharma posed for a picture alongside former English footballer David Beckham after leading his side to an emphatic 70-run win over New Zealand in the 2023 World Cup semifinal. Interestingly, Sharma was spotted wearing Beckham’s Real Madrid jersey, while the football legend donned the Indian captain’s World Cup 2023 jersey at a time when the two sporting stars met each other at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit Sharma and David Beckham interact after semifinal

Former England footballer and Real Madrid legend David Beckham attended India’s World Cup 2023 semifinal as a brand ambassador of UNICEF. Gracing the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with his presence, the 48-year-old interacted with legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and even congratulated Virat Kohli for his landmark century at the halfway stage of the innings.

After the match, Beckham ran into Rohit Sharma and gifted his signed Real Madrid jersey to the Indian captain. Meanwhile, the football great himself wore Sharma’s World Cup 2023 Indian jersey on the occasion.

Meanwhile, on the cricketing front, Team India routed New Zealand by 70 runs in a tense semifinal. Batting legend Virat Kohli produced his 50th ODI century to go past Sachin Tendulkar’s world record, while middle-order stalwart Shreyas Iyer slapped his second successive ton of the 2023 World Cup.

Captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma himself bludgeoned a scintillating 29-ball 47 at the top, thus setting up India’s colossal 397-run total upfront.

New Zealand, in response, lost early wickets to Mohammed Shami before Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell staged a miraculous recovery in the run-chase. Mitchell even pounded a counterattacking century and threatened to steal away the game before Shami’s demolishing act skittled New Zealanders for just 327.
