In a breathtaking moment during the ongoing World Cup 2023 semi-final clash between South Africa and Australia in Kolkata, Rassie van der Dussen left spectators in awe with an astonishing flying catch at covers to dismiss Mitch Marsh.

The 7.4th over saw Kagiso Rabada deliver a 134.5 kmph length ball outside off, tempting Marsh to go for an ambitious on-the-up punch. The ball seemed destined for the boundary, but Rassie had other plans.

With unparalleled athleticism, Rassie leaped into the air, diving to his right, and plucked the ball out of the sky with both hands. The crowd erupted in cheers as the Proteas found the momentum-shifting moment they needed. Marsh, who had been a centurion in the previous game, departed without adding any runs to the scoreboard.

The catch not only showcased Rassie's exceptional fielding skills but also injected a surge of energy into the South African team and their fans in the stadium.

Despite not being a wicket-taking delivery in the conventional sense, the spectacular catch by Rassie highlighted the unpredictable nature of cricket and set the stage for a thrilling contest in Kolkata. The Proteas, pumped up and buoyed by the outstanding effort, embraced the moment as Rabada and Rassie shared a celebratory hug on the field. The game was well and truly on, with both teams vying for a spot in the World Cup final.
