David Warner played one of the most flamboyant shots in the World Cup 2023 on Thursday (November 16) during Australia’s ongoing semi-final against South Africa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. More importantly, the veteran opener went for that shot against Kagiso Rabada, who is regarded as one of the fiercest fast bowlers in the world.

Nevertheless, Warner got the license to play that shot against Rabada only because the latter overstepped a ball earlier, and gave him a free hit.

Rabada went for a yorker against Warner, who anticipated a similar delivery was coming. Hence, the Australian opener shuffled across the crease, and went for an audacious scoop shot. The timing was so perfect by him that the ball sailed over the deep fine leg for a six.

However, Warner’s entertaining knock did not last long, as Aiden Markram cleaned him up soon after in the seventh over. The Australian opener fell after a quickfire 18-ball 29, laced with one four and four sixes.

Chasing a paltry 214, Australia, at the time of writing, are batting on 74/2 after 10.2 overs.
