After a successful conclusion of the 2024 T20 World Cup, ICC have picked their nominees for ICC Player of the Month award for June with Indian captain Rohit Sharma, player of the tournament awardee Jaspirt Bumrah and leading run scorer Rahmanullah Gurbaz having managed to make the final cut.

The month of June belonged to the T20 cricket frenzy as ICC Men’s T20 World Cup unfolded in full force. 20 teams battled it out in multiple stages before the ultimate finale was scheduled between Indian and South Africa.

India won the T20 World Cup after beating South Africa by 7 runs at Barbados on June 29. That being said, the ICC Player of the Month for June nominees happened to be the lead performers of the T20 World Cup tournament.

Firstly, winning captain Rohit Sharma had an outstanding phase in June 2024. He scored 257 runs at 156.71 strike rate in 8 innings. His 92-run knock against Australia was instrumental in India’s semi-final journey at T20 WC.

Next up ICC went for Jasprit Bumrah. The fast-bowling spearhead was truly India’s unsung hero of the T20 World Cup title victory. He won player of the tournament for scalping 15 wickets in 8 games with an extraordinary economy of 4.18. Bumrah’s death over spell in the finals will be remembered for ages to come.

Last but not the least, Rahmanullah Gurbaz was selected as third nominee for ICC Player of the Month for June. Gurbaz finished the T20 World Cup as lead run-scorer with 281 runs in 8 games.

The opening batter played a crucial role with the bat in what turned out to be a historic campaign for Afghanistan, where they qualified for an ICC tournament semi-final for the first time ever.
