India's cricket icons, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, announced their retirement from T20Is following India's historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 29. 

As they brought the curtains down on their illustrious careers, both players saw a rise in their ICC T20I batter rankings.

Rohit Sharma had a stellar tournament, both as captain and a key batsman, leading India to their first ICC title in 11 years and fulfilling the dreams of millions of Indian fans.

The 35-year-old amassed 257 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 156.71. His impressive performance saw him climb two spots to finish at 36th in the ICC T20I batter rankings.

At the top of the rankings is Australia's Travis Head, with India's power hitter Suryakumar Yadav in second place. Virat Kohli, despite experiencing a dip in form throughout the tournament, managed to score 151 runs in 8 innings. His ranking surged by seven places, finishing his T20I career at 40th. 

Kohli announced his retirement moments after India's victory, while Rohit Sharma confirmed his retirement during the post-match conference, declaring the final as his last T20I match.
