Last evening, fans across the globe enjoyed a thrilling encounter between the Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, where the KKR fans enjoyed their first victory. As the Rajasthan Royals stepped into the ongoing season, Riyan Parag led the franchise as their stand-in captain.

Even after two matches this season, the first victory is still far from Rajasthan Royals. Following their latest defeat, Riyan Parag made an unwanted mark in the team's history, becoming the first RR captain to record this particular setback in the tournament's history.

Parag’s Unwanted Captaincy Milestone

After facing a heartbreaking defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Rajasthan Royals faced the Kolkata Knight Riders in their second match and ended up incurring a heartbreaking 8-wicket defeat.

With Sanju Samson still recovering from a finger injury sustained months ago, he remains limited to an impact player role. This opened the door for young all-rounder Riyan Parag to lead the Rajasthan Royals in the first three matches. However, while captaining the side, Parag has unfortunately etched his name into an unwanted captaincy record.

He became the first captain of franchise history to lose both opening matches. From Shane Warne to Sanju Samson, no RR captain has that unwanted IPL record under their name.

RR’s Shambolic Defeat Against KKR

After a humiliating defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad, RR aimed for a thrilling victory over KKR, but that remained a dream. After Samson’s dismissal, Jaiswal and Parag added 29 and 25 runs. Dhruv Jurel played a 33-run knock in 28 balls. But the others fell short as they ended their innings in just 151 runs.

Their woes deepened in the second innings as the bowlers kept struggling in front of the KKR batters. Despite grabbing two early wickets, they failed to make any further breakthroughs, leading to a crushing 8-wicket defeat.

With back-to-back losses, RR finds itself struggling on the points table. As they gear up to face CSK on March 30, they’ll be desperate to turn things around and secure their first win.
