Rumours of a rift between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant and franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka were put to rest following a heartwarming moment shared between the two after LSG's dramatic victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL 2025 season.

Rishabh Pant And Goenka Seen In High Spirits

The two were seen engaging in a friendly and jovial conversation after the match, with Goenka even patting Pant’s shoulder during the exchange. This followed an earlier period where Goenka appeared visibly upset, fueling speculation about a possible rift between the two.

The sight of Goenka and Pant in high spirits together after the match did much to ease the fans, who had feared the situation might mirror that of KL Rahul’s fallout with the franchise last year.

It is also worth noting that the two were recently spotted together at the semifinal match of the 2024/25 Indian Super League (ISL) between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Jamshedpur FC.

Rishabh Pant's Form Concern For LSG

Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history with a massive 27 crore deal with LSG. And as the season started Lucknow-based franchise had great expectations from him but he failed to perform with the bat this season so far. Having played five matches so far, Pant has scored just 19 runs, at a mere average of 4.75 and a subpar strike rate of 59.38

Nicholas Pooran Leads LSG To Victory vs KKR

Batting first, LSG posted an imposing total of 238/3 in 20 overs, thanks to explosive knocks from their top order.

Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram provided the initial foundation, with Marsh scoring 81 off 48 balls, while Markram contributed 47 off 28 balls. However, it was Nicholas Pooran who stole the show, blasting an unbeaten 87 off just 36 balls.

Chasing the target, KKR appeared to be in control at 149/2 after 12 overs. However, they suffered a dramatic collapse in the final stages of their innings and lost the match by 4 runs.
