Rishabh Pant with Goenka after LSG vs PBKS match [Source: @DP8045/X]
Lucknow SuperGiants had a disastrous start to their IPL 2025 campaign at home, as Punjab Kings thrashed them by eight wickets in the 13th group-stage match of the competition. After they huffed and puffed to 171 in 20 overs, the home side miserably failed with the ball, with the rampant Kings extending their dream run in the IPL 2025.
Rishabh Pant Faces Sanjeev Goenka's Wrath Again
LSG captain Rishabh Pant turned out to be a major disappointment for the visitors. Pant, who became the most expensive player in IPL history with a lucrative 27Cr deal with LSG, registered another low score, as Maxwell dismissed him for two runs.
The keeper-batter also received massive backlash for his tactical shortcomings, as Punjab chased down the target inside 17 overs. After the game concluded, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka was seen having an intense discussion with the skipper at the Ekana Stadium.
Although the conversation couldn't be decoded, Mr. Goenka didn't seem too pleased with Pant's performance as a batter as well as captain in the marquee event so far. It's worth mentioning that Pant recorded a duck on his maiden outing for LSG before scoring only 17 runs across the next two innings.
LSG Slip To Sixth In IPL 2025 Points Table
After another demoralising defeat, Rishabh Pant-led SuperGiants slipped to sixth in the IPL 2025 points table. They will face Mumbai Indians in their fourth match of the season on April 4.
