On Wednesday, June 25, the ICC updated their weekly ranking charts, with Indian and England batters being rewarded for their scintillating performances in the first Test at Headingley. Rishabh Pant made a crucial climb as the keeper-batter jumped a spot to now rank seventh.
Rishabh Pant Achieves Career-Best Ratings
Pant had a brilliant outing at Headingley, scripting history by becoming the first Indian keeper to score twin centuries in a match in England. With two tons, the southpaw now ranks seventh in the ICC’s Test batting rankings and has achieved career-best ratings.
For the first time in the 27-year-old’s career, he has reached a rating of 801. He is now just five rating points behind Temba Bavuma and within striking distance of moving up to sixth on the table.
Duckett Enters Top 10, KL Rahul Takes A Big Jump
England opener Ben Duckett has also taken a big jump of five spots after a century in the final innings of the 1st Test and has entered the top 10 to rank eight on the table. Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who also hit a ton in the first Test, has jumped ten spots to rank 38th.
Indian skipper Shubman Gill was also one of the centurions, also climbed up five-spots and is now placed 20th on the ranking charts.
Huge Gains For Bangladesh And Sri Lanka Batters
Besides India and England Test series, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also locked horns in the first-Test, where the batters took advantage of a flat deck and it was a run-fest at the Galle Stadium.
Najmul Shanto climbed 21 spots and is now ranked 29th with a century against the Island Nation. Also, Mushfiqur Rahim, who too slammed a ton, is placed 28th on the rankings with a jump off 11 spots.
For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka is ranked 31st on the list after a whopping jump of 21 spots following a ton.
