Duckett’s 149, Crawley And Root 50s Pave Way For England’s Record Chase

England chased down 371 with five wickets and few minutes to spare on a thrilling Day 5 of the Headingley Test against India to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Resuming the day at 21-0, English opener Ben Duckett pounded 149 runs from 170 balls with 21 fours and a six and the belligerent left-hander shared a match-defining 188-run partnership with half-centurion Zak Crawley.

A couple of wickets each for Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur did not make much difference to India’s fortunes as senior man Joe Root steered England to an emphatic victory with his unbeaten 53*.

Steve Smith, Labuschagne Out As AUS Name Playing XI For WI 1st Test

The Australian team management has unveiled its playing XI for the upcoming first Test match against West Indies in Barbados. Steve Smith was ruled out of the match owing to an injury, while out-of-form Marnus Labuschagne was dropped owing to his lackluster form with the bat off late. While Cameron Green will bat at number three for Australia to fill in for Labuschagne, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will command the number four position.

The match, set to launch from June 25 onwards, will mark Australia’s first in the 2025-27 WTC cycle.

Dilip Doshi Passed Away At 77

Former Indian left-arm spinner Dilip Doshi has passed away at the age of 77 in London. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the news of his demise on social media. Doshi is now survived by his wife Kalindi, son Nayan, and daughter Visakha.

Dilip played 33 Tests in his four-year international career, picking up 114 wickets in the process at an average of 30.71. Doshi also played 15 ODIs, and was one of the oldest Indian cricketers to have made his 50-overs international debut for Team India.

Tilak Varma Records Century On County Debut For Hampshire

Indian limited-overs specialist Tilak Varma brought up his sixth first-class century by scoring 100 runs from 241 balls against Essex. Batting at number four for Hampshire at the County Ground in Chelmsford in his first County Championship 2025 Division One match of the season, the elegant left-hander clattered 11 fours and three huge sixes before getting toppled by Simon Harmer.

Liam Dawson also composed 139 runs as Hampshire mounted 453 to take a 157-run first innings lead over Essex.

Sanju Samson To Play In Kerala Cricket League 2025

Indian T20I star Sanju Samson is set to feature in the upcoming 2025 season of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) governing council chairman Nazir Machan has already confirmed that Samson has officially signed up for the auction, set to be held on July 5 next month.

Samson recently played just nine matches for the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the recently-concluded IPL 2025 season, scoring 285 runs at an average of 35.62.
