Rishabh Pant preps for ODI comeback by skipping Delhi match
As reported by Revsportz on Monday, January 5; Rishabh Pant will be joining Virat Kohli in skipping Delhi’s upcoming Elite Group D fixture of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Railways at the KSCA Cricket Stadium in Alur on January 6.
The report also indicated that the Indian wicketkeeper-batter will be skipping the game as he is gearing up to link with Team India squad in Baroda on Wednesday, January 7. It is worth noting that Rishabh Pant was selected in Team India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against New Zealand, thus making his return to the 50-overs international format after nearly a year-and-a-half. Pant last played ODI cricket for India back in August 2024 during their away ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The Indian team, led by captain and fellow comeback man Shubman Gill is expected to assemble in Baroda for the series-opening first ODI against New Zealand. The match will be hosted by the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium on January 11 later this week.
Rishabh Pant has already played five matches for the Delhi cricket team in the ongoing 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season. In five innings, the blistering left-handed batter managed to aggregate 188 runs at an average of 47.
