The last league stage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 features the Lucknow Super Giants up against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a riveting battle at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The match holds utmost importance for the RCB side since they can finish inside top 2 if they beat the home side.

What happened to Rishabh Pant?

LSG, have nothing to lose as they are already out of the playoff qualification race but will come out all guns blazing to spoil RCB's party. However, prior to the contest a video went viral where Rishabh Pant, the LSG skipper could be seen limping off as he gives autograph. It looks like the same knee injury which derailed his international career, a few years ago.

Pant is a valuable asset for LSG and with nothing to lose, the franchise might give rest to him for this contest and hence the question arises, who will lead LSG in his absence?.

Pooran to lead LSG in Pant's absence?

In case Pant misses out on the RCB match due to an injury, then Nicholas Pooran could be the one to lead the side. He is LSG's vice-captain and could become the leader for one match. Also, apart from captaincy, Pooran can also keep wickets, and can fulfil the dual role which Pant does for the franchise.

In case for some reason, Pooran doesn't get the captaincy, the team can also go to Mitch Marsh who has prior experience of leading Australia and has done well as the captain of the team.
