"Had A Mask On": Virat Kohli Recalls Going Incognito In Secret Snack Mission For Anushka

Virat Kohli recently recalled an incident about going unnoticed by everyone despite going public and without security at an eatery in Bengaluru. The incident in contention features a ‘secret snack mission’ the cricketer undertook for his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.

Kohli, who married Anushka back in December 2017, said that he once went out to his wife’s favourite bakery without security shortly after the conclusion of a Team India Test match at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Virat Kohli recalls ‘puff mission’ for wife Anushka

While speaking on Social Sport Cricket, Virat Kohli revealed that since Anushka Sharma grew up in Bengaluru, she talked a lot about her favourite puffs in the city. The cricketer, who just played a Test match at the city’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, said that in a bid to surprise his wife, he once walked into Thom’s Bakery with his mask and cap on and asked his security guard to wait in the car.

He said:

“We finished a Test match. A lot of people don’t know that Anushka has almost literally grown up in Bengaluru. So, as soon as we got back to the hotel, Anushka talked about the puffs there. That’s her most favourite thing to eat in Bengaluru apart from the dosas. I walked into Thom’s Bakery and told the security guard to sit in the car. I had a mask on, I had a cap on. I ordered puffs. I got them packed. I went to the counter.”

Virat Kohli added that while he initially went unnoticed, he almost got identified at the cash counter when he was asked to give his credit card. However, Kohli revealed that the cashier was so busy at the time that he did not bother to check the name on the card and simply swiped and handed back the receipt. The former Indian captain added:

“I had no cash. I gave the guy my credit card. I thought this was it. Now, I am gone. I actually had the security’s number ready to be dialled. But the guy was so busy with work that he did not care whose credit card it was. He swiped it. I signed it. I gave him the receipt. He stamped it. I was like, he didn’t even read what’s written on it. I was like, wow! This is amazing! This was completely unexpected. No one actually recognised me at all.”

Both Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma first met each other back in 2013 on the set of an advertisement. The two charismatic personalities soon started dating and married each other at a grand ceremony in Italy in December 2017.

Virat and Anushka had their first daughter together in January 2021, and the couple welcomed their first son last year back in February 2024.
