Opting for a fresh assembly of young talent due to the coinciding ICC World Cup 2011 preparations, BCCI announced a team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad featuring several promising players earning India call-ups, including Rinku Singh.

Rinku Singh has skyrocketed to cricketing fame thanks to an exceptional season with the Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL).
His mind-boggling performance against Gujarat Titans was the highlight of the season, where he clinched a dramatic victory by smacking five sixes off the last five balls off Yash Dayal when the team needed 28 runs to win.
The left-handed batsman concluded the season on a high note, scoring 474 runs across 14 matches at a blistering strike rate of 149.53 with four fifties.
The Southpaw's IPL stint was not just about run scoring but also offered a chance to mingle with seasoned cricketers and gain from their vast experience. A case in point is his interaction with the cricketing stalwart MS Dhoni.
In a conversation with RevSportz, Rinku shared how Dhoni's advice helped him navigate his career. Drawing from his own vast experience of batting in similar positions, Dhoni advised Rinku to keep faith in his current approach, affirming that his batting was already top-notch and he should continue on the same path.
"The chatter with Mahi bhai was really productive. He has also batted in similar numbers as I do—at 5 or 6—and he has done it for the majority of his career and knows the position in and out. I simply asked him how to improve my game, and his advice was very simple: ‘You are batting really well. Continue whatever you have done so far," said Rinku.
Rinku will be eager to carry forward his exceptional form from the IPL 2023 into the Asian Games 2023 and play a vital role in helping India secure the gold medal.
