Why fans want Rizwan back [Source: @mufaddal_vohra/x.com]
Mohammad Rizwan has been going through a rough patch across formats in 2025, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took a harsh call by dropping the wicket-keeper batter from their Asia Cup squad. This didn’t come as a shock since Rizwan’s numbers dropped considerably, and PCB found better players in T20Is.
However, only after two T20I matches in the tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE, Pakistan fans want Rizwan back in the T20I side, and here’s the reason.
Mohammad Haris, the reason behind fans' support to Rizwan
With no Rizwan in the squad, the keeping duties in the tri-series are being taken care of by Mohammad Haris, and while he has done nothing wrong with his glove-work, it is his batting stats that worry the Pakistan fans.
With scores of 21, 2 in the first two matches in the tri-series, pressure has mounted on Haris to deliver the goods. Plus, the team has lost faith in him as the batter who generally plays in the top 3, has been pushed down to number 7.
Moreover, in his last 8 T20I innings, his scores have read: 4, 0, 5, 6*, 4, 2, 15, 1, with an average of 5.29. Hence, there is a section of Pakistan fans who are vocal about Haris' exclusion.
Pakistan fans slam Haris as Rizwan gets the praise
"No doubt, Babar and Rizwan have delivered many performances for Pakistan, but when you want to set a benchmark, you need to give chances to the juniors. Babar Azam needs to play fast in T20," this was Haris' response when a journalist asked him about Babar being dropped from the T20I setup.
The comments didn't go well, and with Haris performing poorly in recent games, fans took a dig at him, and they wanted Rizwan back in the side.
