Pakistan batter Mohamad Haris faced heat on social media over his painful knock of 15 off 13 against Afghanistan in the 1st T20I of the tri-series. Days after he advised Babar Azam to play fast, Haris failed to follow what he preached. 

The tri-series between the UAE, Afghanistan and Pakistan kicked off on August 29 with Pakistan taking on Afghanistan. The men in green batted first, but no batter was able to convert his start into a big score.

Mohammad Haris Trolled For Slow Knock Vs Afghanistan

Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Haris, in particular, grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons. He came out to bat as low as no.7 and in 13 balls that he faced, Haris could score only 15 runs, getting dismissed by Fareed Ahmad. 

Interestingly, earlier this month, Haris, in an interview, criticised Babar Azam over his low strike rate and advised him to play fast to adapt to modern-day cricket.

With Haris unable to follow what he earlier preached, fans slammed him left, right and centre. Many questioned his role in the team, especially when, as a specialist batter, he is coming down to bat at no.7.

Babar, struggling with form for a prolonged period of time, was dropped from the T20I squad along with Mohammad Rizwan. Both seniors will be absent from the Asia Cup 2025 as well.

That being said, captain Salman Agha’s unbeaten half-century guided Pakistan to a strong total of 182 runs.
