Cheteshwar Pujara, the veteran Indian batter, called time on his international career as he announced his retirement via a social media post. Pujara made his India debut in 2010, and for the next 13 years, he became India’s batting stalwart, and represented the nation in 103 Test matches, and 5 ODIs.
He last played for India in the 2023 World Test Championship, and ended his red-ball career with 7195 runs, with an average of 43.60, including 19 Test tons. With Rahul Dravid retiring, India needed a solid player to replace him in Tests, and Pujara became his long-term successor, as the batter had a successful red-ball journey, and won countless games for India.

Following his Test retirement, the 37-year-old will receive a monthly pension of Rs 70,000 from the BCCI, it puts him in the highest bracket for pension earned by a former player. In 2022, BCCI revoked its pension schemes, and there was an increase in the amount that the player got from the board.
Before 2022, Test cricketers who were in top bracket used to earn 50,000, but that amount was revised and was increased to 70,000, which Pujara will earn.

Pujara was known for his grit and determination and was a batter who used to rescue India from precarious situations. He is the Indian player with the most wins in SENA nations (11), and he has contributed immensely to it.
Moreover, apart from Test cricket, the right-handed batter also played in 5 ODIs for India, but that stint was unsuccessful, as he could only score 51 runs, with an average of 10.20. The 'monk', as he is often called, also represented the Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Chennai Super Kings, and the Punjab Kings in the IPL, and scored 390 runs in 30 matches.
