Mo Bobat has been appointed as the Director of Cricket of the London Spirit franchise in The Hundred. The franchise confirmed the same after US-based tech investment group Tech Titans brought 49 percent stakes and confirmed that the team will continue to be known as London Spirit.

It is worth noting that Mo Bobat is also a director of cricket for the popular Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). With him at the helm of the RCB’s support staff, they lifted the IPL 2025 silverware a couple of months ago to quench their 18-year-old title dream.

London Spirit Chairman Announces “Significant Moment”

Former England performance director and current RCB guide Mo Bobat has been appointed as the new Director of Cricket of the London Spirit franchise, as confirmed by Lords.org. London Spirit Chairman Julian Metherell described Bobat’s appointment as a “significant moment” for the franchise.

As quoted by Lords.org, Bobat himself expressed his honour of joining the team and added that he is looking forward to “shape the cricketing future of this franchise.”

Bobat’s appointment as Director of Cricket was one of the first decisions taken by the franchise after the 49 percent stakes buyout by Tech Titans. It is worth noting that the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) will hold the remaining 51 percent stakes of the franchise.

The London Spirit Men’s team is currently coached by former Australian Test opener Justin Langer. Under the leadership of legendary New Zealand batter Kane Williamson, London Spirit bowled out for just 80 in their tournament-opener on August 5 against the Oval Invincibles, ultimately losing the game by six wickets and with 31 balls to spare.
