Defending champions RCB completed an eight-wicket demolition of Delhi Capitals. Kane Williamson found a new T20 gig in the form of England-based The Hundred for London Spirit. Furthermore, the ECB brutally roasted Virat Kohli to celebrate Adil Rashid’s birthday.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Monday, February 17.

Smriti Mandhana, Renuka Singh Headline Clinical RCB Win

Defending champions RCB walloped Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in match number four of the WPL 2025 season in Vadodara. After fast bowlers Renuka Singh (3-23), Kim Garth (2-19) and spinners Ekta Bisht (2-35), Georgia Wareham (3-25) enveloped Capitals for just 141 in 19.3 overs, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana belted a fluent 81 from just 47 balls with 10 boundaries and three sixes earlier in the run-chase.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge also chipped in with 42 elegant runs from 33 balls before Ellyse Perry and blistering wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh soared RCB past the finishing line with 22 balls to spare.

Kane Williamson To Lead London Spirit In The Hundred 2025

Kane Williamson is set to make his The Hundred debut later this year during the 2025 season for the London Spirit franchise. Moreover, the legendary New Zealand cricketer has been appointed as captain of London Spirit, considering the franchise finished at the bottom of the points table last year.

Williamson, a veteran of 262 T20 matches, recently went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 34-year-old played a handful of SA20 2025 matches for the Durban’s Super Giants last month, and is currently prepping himself for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Haris Rauf Felt Discomfort In Nets Before CT 2025

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has reportedly not attained full recovery from the muscle strain around his chest wall. Earlier this month, the speedster was also sidelined from the national playing XI during the recently-concluded ODI tri-series after he failed to finish his quota of overs.

As per a recent video released by Geo Super, Rauf felt discomfort after bowling just two overs during a nets training session for Pakistan mere days ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. At the moment, the speedster is among the first-choice pacers in the Pakistan line-up for the tournament. If he fails to regain full fitness, the ‘Men in Green’ management might recall Mohammad Hasnain or Faheem Ashraf into the playing XI.

ECB Roasts Virat Kohli On Adil Rashid Birthday

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) celebrated the 37th birthday of seasoned English spinner Adil Rashid by sharing a video of a bamboozled Virat Kohli. The 31-second clip features Kohli getting clean-bowled by Rashid, back during their faceoff from India’s all-format tour of England in 2018.

In the caption, the ECB wrote “Adilyllic! Happy birthday, Adil Rashid!”.

Ajinkya Rahane Eyes Team India Comeback

Ajinkya Rahane, currently leading the Mumbai cricket team in the semifinals of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, has expressed his confidence of making a return to international cricket. Rahane played the last of his 85 Tests for India back in mid-2023 against the West Indies team at Port of Spain.

Rahane said that he still has the “fire and passion” to succeed at the big stage, and he is currently “giving his all” for the Mumbai cricket team.
