In a shocking revelation, the former IPL chairman, Lalit Modi, has stated that RCB owners have decided to sell the team ahead of the next season. If true, it would be a move from the owners of one of the most famous IPL franchises, and it could be the consequence of the deadly Bengaluru stampede.

Lalit Modi Reveals Insider News About RCB

Lalit Modi made the revelation through his official X handle. The founder of IPL stated that there were rumours in the past which were not true, but added that it seems that they have finally decided to let go of their ownership.

He added that there might be a huge demand and Big Global Funds or a Sovereign Fund would like to have the franchise as part of their investment strategy. He also indirectly urged investors by mentioning that there is no better opportunity than having RCB in one's portfolio, as it is a very popular franchise. He also added that IPL is one of the fastest-growing Global Sporting leagues in the world and RCB's new price would set the new floor price for all the teams.

New direction for RCB, a result of Bengaluru stampede?

Lalit Modi also mentioned that Citibank would do a great job of auctioning the team to prospective buyers. Therefore, it looks like the stage is set for the new owners of RCB. The fact that the owners are planning to sell the franchise after their maiden IPL win is quite a big move.

After RCB's win in the final of IPL 2025, their victory celebration took a deadly turn as 11 people lost their lives in the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Since then, RCB management has come under the scanner, while their home ground, Chinnaswamy Stadium, has also been at the centre of criticism.
