England will look to bounce back in the second T20I of their five-match series against India on Saturday (January 25) after a disappointing seven-wicket defeat in the opening match. In a bid to strengthen their bowling lineup, England has brought in fast bowler Brydon Carse to replace Gus Atkinson in the squad. While the official reason for the change has not been disclosed, it is widely speculated to be a tactical decision following Atkinson's dismal performance in the first match.

Brydon Carse has the ability to hit the hard deck and generate extra bounce, and if included in the playing XI will add fresh dynamic to England's bowling attack. He is likely to operate as the third seamer alongside Jofra Archer and Mard Wood. The move could provide England with better balance and more options in the middle and death overs.

Jamie Smith In The Squad But Unlikely To Play

Another notable inclusion in England's 12-player squad is Jamie Smith, who has been added as a backup option. This news comes following reports that all-rounder Jacob Bethell was not present at the team's training in Chennai and is reportedly suffering from illness. Hower if Bethell recover ahead of the second match, it is expected that Smith will not feature in the playing XI.

However, England will opt to stick with their current batting lineup despite its poor showing in the first T20I. England's top order failed to deliver at the Eden Gardens. Captain Jos Buttler played as a lone-warrior innings and made 68 runs at 44 balls. The rest of the batting lineup that include big names like Phil Salt, Ben Duckett, Liam Livingstone, and Jacob Bethell  struggled to get going and failed completely.

England will need a collective effort from both their batting and bowling units to level the series against a confident Indian side. The onus will also be on the batters to step up and deliver in the second T20I at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
