Star RCB all-rounder Shreyanka Patil scalped 5 wickets on India A debut against Hong Kong Women in the first match of their campaign at the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Tuesday, June 13.

After being asked to bat first, Hong Kong Women got bowled out for a paltry 34, courtesy of a ruthless bowling display from India A bowlers. Shreyanka was the pick of the bowlers as she picked up 5 wickets and gave away just 2 runs in her 3 overs spell.

It all started with Mannat Kashyap and Titas Sadhu taking early wickets as Hong Kong were kept on the back foot as they could only manage 12 runs in the first six overs and lost 3 wickets as well.

Shreyanka, who came to the attack after the powerplay, striked in the very first ball of her spell and bowled a wicket-maiden over. Then she came back to pick 3 more wickets in her second over and went on to complete her 5-wicket haul in only 2.1 overs.

India A went on to win the game by 9 wickets as they chased down the target without much of a difficulty in just 5.2 overs. They started their tournament in style with two more Group fixtures against Nepal and Pakistan ahead of them.

Shreyanka Patil showed why she is rated so highly especially after the kind of Women’s Premier League she had. The RCB all-rounder was one of the best young players in the tournament and can be looked as a long term player for both RCB and India in future.

Despite RCB having a horrible season, Shreyanka grabbed the attention of many through her all-round abilities in the first season of the WPL. She had a strike rate of over 151 with the bat and took 6 wickets with her off spin.
