What transpired during 1983 WC Final?

The 1983 World Cup final saw India facing the mighty West Indies, who had already won the World Cup twice.

Defending a low total, India’s bowlers rose to the occasion, applying pressure and restricting the West Indies’ run flow. The match saw a dramatic turn as the West Indies were reduced to 57/3 and then 76/6, with India closing in on a historic win.

Mohinder Amarnath’s decisive wicket of Michael Holding sealed the victory, with the West Indies bowled out for 140 runs.

The image of Kapil Dev lifting the World Cup trophy at Lord’s remains etched in the memories of Indian cricket fans. This victory not only transformed Indian cricket but also inspired generations of cricketers and fans alike.
