Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh shared a close bond with Australian opener David Warner, both on and off the field.

Their camaraderie blossomed during their time together at Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Recently, Warner announced his retirement from international cricket following Australia’s exit in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Warner's 15-year cricket career ended quietly, as he chose not to make any statements on his own channels.

However, Yuvraj Singh took to social media to pay a heartfelt tribute to his former teammate. Yuvraj, who played alongside Warner in the SRH that won the IPL title in 2016, shared a message filled with admiration.

Yuvraj Singh Heartfelt Message To David Warner

"No one likes a quiet goodbye, but that’s the game of life, mate. Well done on an incredible career, @davidwarner31! From smashing boundaries on the park to nailing Bollywood moves and dialogues, you’ve done it all in true #Warner style. A feared batsman, a lively teammate, and a true entertainer on and off the field. It was a pleasure sharing the dressing room with you, buddy. Go well #legend and enjoy your well-deserved time off with the lovely family 🙌🏻."

Warner’s international retirement marks the end of an era for Australian cricket. The 37-year-old leaves as Australia’s leading T20 run-scorer, amassing 3,277 runs in 110 matches. He is the seventh-highest run-scorer in T20 internationals worldwide, with an average of 33.43, including one century and 28 fifties.

During the T20 World Cup 2024, Warner scored 178 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 139.06, including two fifties, reaffirming his status as a T20 legend.
