In a notable shift in the ICC Men's T20I Batter's rankings, Australian star batter Travis Head has surpassed India's Suryakumar Yadav to claim the top position.

Head's exceptional form during the T20 World Cup 2024 was pivotal, as he accumulated 255 runs in seven matches, including a standout 76-run innings against India despite Australia's eventual exit from the tournament.

Head's performance makes him the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament so far. He took the top spot from Suryakumar, who had held it since December 2023. Over the past week, Head's contributions included scores of 31 against Bangladesh, a duck against Afghanistan, and a vital 76 against India.

In contrast, Suryakumar's recent scores were 53 against Afghanistan, 6 against Bangladesh, and 31 against Australia, with his low score against Bangladesh proving costly.

Suryakumar, however, has a chance to reclaim his position soon, as Head leads by only two points and will not be playing in the upcoming matches. Suryakumar will compete in at least the semifinal against England, and potentially one more match if India advances.

Head's rise in the rankings has caused Phil Salt, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam to each slip one place. The only other Indian in the top ten is Yashasvi Jaiswal, who, despite not playing a game in the T20 World Cup 2024, holds the seventh spot with 672 rating points.
