Ravichandran Ashwin put up a remarkable all-round show to catalyse Team India’s huge 280-run win over Bangladesh in the first Test. Playing in front of his home crowd at Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, the cricketer dug India out of the hole on Day 1 by recording his sixth Test century with a swift 113-run knock. The legendary all-rounder also picked up six wickets in the second Bangladesh innings in the final two days of play.

Shortly after Ravichandran Ashwin was declared the ‘Player of the Match’ at the post-match presentation ceremony, the cricketer was greeted by his wife Prithi Narayanan and their two daughters at the stadium.

Ravichandran Ashwin was greeted by his wife and two daughters at the Chepauk Stadium after India completed their 280-run demolition job over Bangladesh. In a heartwarming family reunion captured by the BCCI, the legendary Indian all-rounder can be seen jokingly offering the match ball to his daughters on the coinciding occasion of ‘Daughters Day’.

Ravichandran Ashwin shaped his sixth Test century on the opening day of the match to lift India from a precarious 144-6 to 376 all out. While the legendary off-spinner went wicketless in the first Bangladesh innings on Day 2, he picked up figures of 6-88 in the decisive innings of the match on Day 3 and 4.

Remarkably, Ashwin’s match-winning spell in the second innings also helped him level up with legendary Australian spin wizard Shane Warne for a huge world record.

As of now, the 38-year-old is bracing himself to face Bangladesh in the series-deciding second Test match against Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur between September 27 and October 1.
