Diana Puketapu-Lyndon replaced outgoing Martin Snedden [nzc.nz]
In a landscape-changing move, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have named their first-ever woman chair Diana Puketapu-Lyndon.
Lyndon will replace the outgoing chair Martin Snedden, who despite having a year remaining in his tenure, has decided to leave the post and hand over duties to the deputy. Snedden a three-time board director and former CEO explained his departure as "simply the right thing to do".
Here's what Snedden Said
“I’ve taken the decision to step down from the role of board chair, as well as NZC’s representative on the ICC board. Both these decisions have been taken in the name of ensuring good, sound governance succession planning, as well as taking advantage of what is an excellent opportunity for a leadership refresh."
Lyndon was first appointed to the NZC Board back in 2017 is the second-longest serving director, and is also the chairperson of New Zealand's Zealand Olympic Committee.
By profession, Lyndon is a Chartered Accountant, and also a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
Apart from the new appointments, NZC in their statement today, also revealed that despite several challenges, the board has managed to rake in a surplus of 10.7 million, owning to tours by India and England.
Former New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor, and White Ferns players Maia Lewis and Amy Satterthwaite were elected as life members of NZC.
Former Black Caps players Mark Greatbatch and Chris Harris, ex-coach Mike Hesson, and White Ferns Kirsty Bond and Katrina Kennan were named as honorary members.
