A knock for the ages, Australia's all-rounder Glenn Maxwell produced a breathtaking display of batting against Afghanistan last evening in Mumbai in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Maxwell making a return to the playing XI after an injury, singlehandedly took the game away from Afghanistan, who had pinned Australia down to 91 for 7 in their chase of 293.

Known as 'The Big Show', the middle-order batter battled heat and cramps and notched up an unbeaten knock of 201* in just 128 deliveries, which ensured Australia a place in the semi-finals.

The 35-year-old went on to earn high praise from former India great Sachin Tendulkar, who was the first men's ODI player to slam a 200 in international cricket.

Taking to social media platform 'X', Tendulkar called Maxwell's knock the 'best ODI knock', having been part of many such stellar knocks himself.

Here's what Tendulkar posted

"A wonderful knock by @IZadran18  to put Afghanistan in a good position. They started well in the 2nd half and played good cricket for 70 overs but the last 25 overs from @Gmaxi_32 was more than enough to change their fortune."

"From Max pressure to Max performance! This has been the best ODI knock I’ve seen in my life. #AUSvAFG"

Another double ODI double centurion, former India opener Virender Sehwag also heaped high praise for Maxwell, calling the knock by the RCB batter as one of the all-time great 50-overs innings.
