The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) got strengthened with the appointments of two members from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On Friday, March 7, the BCCI confirmed that Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar will be taking up new positions at the ACC in a bid to “promote” Asian cricket.
Jay Shah previously served as the President of the ACC. However, his ascension to becoming the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) left his ACC position vacant.

Long-time BCCI administrator Rajeev Shukla will be representing the Indian board on the ACC as an Executive Board Member. Additionally, Ashish Shelar has also joined the ACC as a BCCI representative by becoming an Ex-Officio Board Member.
The BCCI confirmed the recent developments on Friday, March 7. In an official media release, the BCCI also extended its best wishes to the two cricket administrators. Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary of the BCCI, wrote:
“On behalf of the BCCI Office Bearers and Apex Council, we wish both of them a successful tenure as the ACC works towards promoting, developing and strengthening cricket in Asia.”
As board of directors of the ACC, one of the primary objectives of both Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar would be to oversee the upcoming 2025 senior men’s T20 Asia Cup. While originally scheduled to be hosted in India, the tournament might be relocated to the UAE owing to India’s prevailing political tensions with geo-political rivals Pakistan.
The 2025 Asia Cup will be played later in 2025, and will serve as a testing ground for all competing nations ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
