In a significant development, India and Pakistan could potentially play three more matches against each other in 2025. According to a report from Cricbuzz, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has tentatively scheduled the Asia Cup 2025 in September. It would be played in the T20 format with the World Cup in the shortest format scheduled to played in 2026.

Asia Cup 2025 Likely To Start From 2nd Week Of September

Also, the tournament is likely to be played either in UAE or Sri Lanka because of the agreement between India and Pakistan before the Champions Trophy. The pact states that India and Pakistan would not travel to each other's country and will play the matches of an ICC tournament at a neutral venue. However, BCCI will remain the designated hosts of the tournament like Pakistan are of the Champions Trophy 2025.

Also, according to the report, the 2029 Asia Cup that will be hosted by Pakistan will also be played at the neutral venue. The report states that there will be 19 games in the tournament and will be played between the second and fourth week of September. It will be an 8-team affair with Asian teams like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Oman, UAE taking part along with India and Pakistan.

They will be divided in two groups where India and Pakistan are likely to be in the same one like the previous editions. It would ensure that the two teams will clash in the group stage and possibly in the Super Four and final.

India won the last edition of Asia Cup in 2023 that was played in the 50-over format while the last Asia Cup in T20 format was won by Sri Lanka in 2022.
