The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented new rules ahead of IPL 2025. The main aim of bringing in these new rules is to maintain discipline and professionalism among players. Among these strict guidelines, one rule that has caught the attention is a ban on wearing sleeveless jerseys and floppies during post-match presentations. This is to maintain a formal and professional atmosphere.

According to BCCI’s latest Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), all players must adhere to a dress code during official events. Players failing to comply will first receive a warning, and a financial penalty will follow upon a second violation.

Strict Dress Code To Maintain Professionalism

"In the post-match presentation, floppies and sleeveless jerseys are not allowed. Failure to comply will result in a warning on the first instance. On the second instance, there will be a financial penalty," the BCCI stated.

It is important to note that these rules are part of a broader 10-point guideline aimed at curbing the 'star culture' and ensuring professionalism within the team. Following India's Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss in Australia, BCCI introduced stricter policies, including a ban on personal managers travelling with players and restrictions on family members in the dressing room during international tours.

While the same level of restrictions cannot be enforced in a multi-team league like IPL, some vital rules of these SOPs have been integrated into IPL 2025 to uphold discipline and fairness.

With IPL 2025 set to kick off on March 22, players will have to follow these new rules, ensuring that the world's biggest league maintains its high standards of professionalism.
