Indian domestic cricket phenomenon Rajat Patidar lived his ultimate dream earlier today when Zaheer Khan handed over the Test cap to the debutant for the India vs England second Test at Vizag.

India squared off with England in the second Test of the five-game series earlier today at Visakhapatnam. The hosts made three forced changes.

KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Siraj missed out due to injuries and workload management. Subsequently, Mukesh Kumar, Rajat Patidar, and Kuldeep Yadav were named as replacements by Rohit Sharma at the toss.

That being said, Patidar was on cloud nine as he got an opportunity to make his debut in the prestigious red ball format. Patidar joined the squad as a replacement for Virat Kohli, who is on indefinite leave owing to personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Patidar, who has been phenomenal in the domestic circuit, got his due. Earlier today in Vizag, the batter was honored in the team huddle as former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan handed over the Test cap to the batter.

Zaheer Khan shared a few words of wisdom before placing the priceless cap on Patidar. An emotional Patidar, on the other hand, expressed gratitude for the golden opportunity.

Rajat Patidar is expected to replace KL Rahul in the batting order and could come in at number 4. He has shown flashes of brilliance in domestic cricket, batting in the middle order. Moreover, Rajat is an excellent spin player, which could be his biggest strength in Vizag.

Having said that, Sarfaraz Khan, another popular domestic batter, has missed out despite getting his much-deserved call-up. Rohit Sharma has put faith in the struggling duo of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, at least for the ongoing Test.

India have opted to bat first after winning the toss, and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma are out in the middle for the early challenge.
