Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has started his rehabilitation journey at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in a bid to make his comeback to the team in the near-immediate future. The 35-year-old recently picked up five wickets and scored 87 handy runs against England before he sustained a hamstring injury on Day 4 of their series opener at Hyderabad.

Jadeja was subsequently ruled out of India’s squad for the second Test, prompting the BCCI selection committee to announce Washington Sundar as his replacement.

Ravindra Jadeja reached the NCA on January 30, i.e., a couple of days after he was ruled out of India’s squad for the second Test against England due to a hamstring injury. While several reports indicate that Jadeja might well be ruled out of the entire five-match series, the cricketer seems to be making steady progress at the academy in a bid to make a comeback to the team in lieu of this year’s T20 World Cup as well as crucial WTC fixtures and an IPL commitment for CSK.

On February 1, the legendary all-rounder was seen sprinting across the turf at the NCA as the 35-year-old takes his first steps towards attaining full recovery.

Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, fellow seasoned cricketer KL Rahul was also ruled out of India’s squad for the second Test match. The two players were replaced by Washington Sundar and potential debutants Sarfaraz Khan and Sourabh Kumar in the line-up instead.

The second Test of the five-match series between India and England will be staged at Vizag’s Dr. Y. S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium between February 2 and February 6. Ahead of India’s must-win match, here is a look at the entire updated squad of the hosts.
